Not much to tell here, unfortunately, but there is some stuff that’s worth recording for posterity.
I had nothing to contribute to Prodigal Moon, so there’s no secret unwritten by yours truly tale that I can share.
There was, however, one really fine story that was going to be in Prodigal Moon, and that was a story by Ellen Lindow.
I hope Ellen posts her story (or has posted her story) online somewhere. For Powys Media fans (and visitors to the website), there was actually a poll out there for Space:1999 fans to vote for their favorite fan fiction writer, and Ellen easily won that poll. I got in touch with her and had at least one great conversation with her on the telephone.
I don’t want to spoil anything about the story she sent, other than the fact that it was called “Kelly’s Wake” and after reading it, I sent Ellen the following email:
Hey, Ellen – just wanted to let you know I think your story is lovely. The little stories within the story are wonderful (loved the polar bears in the snow banks). I’ve been writing about this Moonbase for years but I’m pretty sure reading your story really felt like the first time I’d actually walked around in it. Bravo.

It’s too bad Prodigal Moon didn’t happen due to Powys losing the Space:1999 license, but the biggest bummer to me is that Ellen’s fine story didn’t see the light of day — it was totally worthy of being the backbone of the next anthology, and I hope it’s seen the light of day in one format or another. If not, I hope people lobby for that to happen.
I would love to read this if anyone knows where it can be found?
Hopefully ITV/Jamie Anderson will come across it and publish it?
As far as I know there as only been one new S1999 story published in the last 3 years and nothing new at all in the works!
Such a shame that the Powys Media S1999 Universe was forcibly shut down by other parties for no ones benefit.

The SPACE: 1999 novel I wish had been published was “Black Doves”. A beautiful and intriguing title with a wonderful cover. A great shame this one never made it out of the starting gate.
To Bill – Hope you are well my friend. I continue to enjoy your SPACE: 1999 work even though, sadly, Powys Media’s Powysverse is sadly, no more.
